By 2022 we hope to have a physical location for the Foundation. It will also include room for a B.C. Music Educator’s Museum and a bookstore as well as an Arthur Delamont Performance Stage inside.
If we are able to secure the property we want which is in a park like setting we may offer donors the opportunity to have their own bandstand on the grounds. The bandstands will be named after the donor and be a close copy to one of the bandstands that Arthur Delamont and his boys played on in England and the continent during their fourteen tours: i.e. the Dartmouth Bandstand, the Zurich bandstand, the Lake Geneva Bandstand, the Jardin du Luxembourg bandstand.
At some point, it is hoped there will be a Arthur Delamont Foundation Band. This band will be made up of the top school students in public school music programs from across B.C. The aim of the band will be to give students of today an idea of what it was like to have gone on tour with the Kitsilano Boys Band. The band will spend two weeks each summer in England as the guest band of the Royal Dartmouth Regatta. This is a role that Mr. D filled many times throughout the 1960s and 1970s. This will not be a holiday. This will be a real working band that will perform three concerts a day and live out of a bus as it travels around England and the English countryside performing concerts. As in keeping with tradition the band will be comprised of 39 boys and one girl. It makes for good type in the press as well!
